Addons are tools that modify your game interface to help you play more efficiently. While the default game interface has improved over the years, using the right addons is still essential if you want to perform at a high level. Below is a detailed list of my favorite addons that I use every day to write guides and test game features.

Interface and Combat Addons

These tools help you track your abilities, manage your screen space, and react to boss mechanics quickly.

• WeakAuras: This is the most important addon you can install. It allows you to create custom icons and progress bars to track your spells, cooldowns, and debuffs. You can also import setups made by other players. I use it on every character to make sure I never waste an ability.
• Details! Damage Meter: If you want to improve your performance, you must track your data. Details shows you exactly how much damage or healing you and your teammates are doing in real time. It also tracks interrupts, deaths, and avoidable damage taken.
• Plater Nameplates: This addon replaces the default health bars above enemy heads. It allows you to change the color of specific enemies, see which spells they are casting clearly, and track your damage-over-time spells directly on their bars.
• ElvUI: This is a complete interface replacement. It allows you to move and customize every part of your screen, from your action bars to your mini-map. It clean up the screen and lets you focus on the action.

Boss Mods and Dungeon Addons

These addons are essential for raiding and running Mythic Plus dungeons. They warn you about incoming attacks and help you coordinate with your team.

• TradeSkillMaster (TSM): This is a massive addon that helps you track auction house prices, calculate crafting costs, and post items quickly. It takes time to learn, but it is the best tool for making gold in the game.
• GatherMate2: This addon saves the location of every herb and ore node you find on your map. It helps you see where the best farming spots are so you can plan your routes efficiently.

How to Install and Manage Addons

To keep your addons updated, I suggest using an addon manager client. These programs automatically check for updates and install them with a single click. Always update your addons after a major game patch, as outdated files can cause your game to slow down or crash.
